The replacement building at Ulm University is used by several institutes for teaching and research purposes and contains laboratories as well as offices, meeting rooms and seminar rooms. The energy supply concept is made up of the following elements:
- Reversible water-to-water heat pump for heating and cooling
- Connection to on-campus district heating and cooling network
- Heat and cold storage system
- Component activation, underfloor heating, radiators
- Ventilation system with heat recovery, outside air intake via floor duct
- Photovoltaic systems
Fraunhofer IBP was commissioned to draw up a monitoring concept, verify its correct implementation and prove over a two-year monitoring period that the building meets the Efficiency House Plus standard in practice. To do this, the amount of energy supplied to the building as well as the amount of electricity, heat, etc. fed into the grid by the building must be continuously recorded and evaluated. Scientific support, including monitoring, is provided in the following areas:
- Proof of compliance with the Efficiency House Plus standard
- Planning and installation of research-related measuring equipment, including a weather station
- Monitor-based systems for displaying and invoicing energy consumption
- Two-year execution, documentation and evaluation of the measurements
- Assessment of the costs and efficiency of the building and technical concept
